Overall purpose of this position:

The Corporate Accountant position requires analytical and decision-making skills. The ideal candidate needs to exhibit dedicated work ethic and sound organizational skills. The candidate will need to be able to work within a team environment and interact well with other departments. This position supports various aspects of the accounting close cycle including but not limited to the following: fixed assets & lease analysis, prepaid expense review, cash management functions, operating expense analysis and general accounting. This position will report to the Sr. Manager of Corporate Accounting.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Conduct month end closing. Record journal transactions in accordance with US GAAP.
  • Perform monthly account reconciliations and resolve any variances.
  • Analyze period-end prepaid expenses, fixed assets and leases and other account balances and classes of transactions.
  • Prepare department expenses monthly actual vs budget reports. Answer questions from department heads on expenses by providing the detailed information.
  • Maintain the open POs log by reviewing them on monthly basis to ensure the invoices are posted on time and no-needed POs are closed.
  • Maintain the account reconciliation log for the whole department.
  • Perform commission calculations.
  • Perform treasury functions such as reporting daily cash, initiating wires, and bank reconciliations as needed.
  • Prepare of the Company's daily collateral reporting for the asset-based lending agreement.
  • Assist with budget/forecast processes.
  • Support the Accounting Management team through determination and implementation of procedural improvements to drive automation, efficiency and to combat risks.
  • Participate in periodic bank reviews and annual audits by providing information to independent auditors.
  • Carry out ad hoc accounting research and reporting.
  • Maintain understanding of company policies and procedures, departmental goals, and business plan, while communicating exceptions to management.

Qualifications:

Specific knowledge, training, experience, or skills required to perform the duties of this position.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting is required;
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a dynamic team environment.
  • Ability to understand and use computer software that the department uses for general
    accounting, compliance, and reporting purposes.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to manage multiple tasks to meet firm deadlines;
  • Established ability to drive and participate in change and to adapt to change in a positive manner;
  • Microsoft Excel experience is required, BPC/SAP or Hyperion experience is a plus;
  • Exposure to the financial statement close process is required;
  • Must have knowledge of key GAAP concepts;
  • Experience with reconciliations and journal entries is preferred;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Strong attention to detail;
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks with interruptions;
  • Strong oral and written communication skills;
  • Strong communication, teaming, and interpersonal skills;
  • Must be well organized and a self-starter;
  • Must abide by all company policies and keep all sensitive information confidential;
