Job Summary:
The Commissioning Project Manager is an experienced engineer who has overall supervision of a project by defining the project, making sure it conforms to the contractual agreement the firm has made to the client, coordinating, and monitoring the work, and delivering a final project on time and within the prescribed budget.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
Works for Client Service and PMO Manager. Success is dependent on Key Functional Partnerships with Administrative Services, Business Development, Project Managers, Engineering Managers, Principals, and other departments as needed.

Duties/Responsibilities:
  1. Project planning and performance
    1. Meet or exceed planned project multipliers.
    2. Scope management = ensure contract scope is completed and identify/report any out of scope work requests.
    3. Responsible for coordinating external schedule with project partners (arch, owner, etc.) and developing the project charter.
    4. Plan and review monthly invoices for projects.
  2. Client and client portfolio management
    1. Establish a high level of client satisfaction through responsiveness to requests and on time delivery of superior work products, clear communication, and professional/technical excellence.
    2. Obtain future work (i.e., build share and retain sales) from existing architects and owners.
    3. Support Client Services new business activities on qualified leads and pursuits.
    4. Ensuring project team technical leaders connect with client organization (i.e., zipper).
  3. Project delivery and execution
    1. Setting internal milestones and coordinating the workplan with the Engineering group to ensure 100% on-time delivery of project submissions.
    2. Ensure the project team is following the project charter.
    3. External coordination with architect and owner.
    4. Timely dissemination of information to the project team to maintain value added workflow within the project.
    5. Ensuring that technical issues do not become client satisfaction issues.
    6. Direct and lead, in coordination with Construction Administration (CA) group, our services during construction ensure responsiveness to shop drawings and RFIs as well as attending periodic progress meetings and coordinating field activities of project trade staff.
  4. Professional & technical leadership
    1. Provide engineering expertise to our clients.
    2. Provide technical leadership and direction to the project team.
    3. Ensure innovative solutions are considered and communicated with the owner/arch.
    4. Be a visible expert (Thought Leader) to our clients and support the marketing & branding strategies.
Education and Experience
  • 5-8+ years' experience in engineering building systems preferred.
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering required.
  • EIT, PE and/or LEED preferred.
  • Must have a general understanding of all mechanical systems, including plumbing, fire protection, heating, ventilating, air conditioning, and general understanding of electrical systems, including electrical distribution, lighting, and special systems.
  • Extensive knowledge of the principles and practices relating to appropriate discipline, including design, construction, and codes.
  • Must have the ability to utilize computer systems as a tool to manage projects - Must understand CAD operations.
  • Must be capable of managing multiple projects and deadlines for a project team as defined in the F-T Functional Model.
  • Must have developed the following skills: job knowledge, communications, leadership, planning, teamwork, decision making, judgment and problem solving.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees and clients.
