Job Summary:

The Senior Developer/Analyst will play a critical role in developing, maintaining, and enhancing software applications. This individual will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and support complex systems that meet business needs. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in PICK Basic, Rocket Software's UniVerse platform, and related technologies, with a strong background in problem-solving, system analysis, and software development.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Software Development:
    • Design, code, test, and deploy software applications using PICK Basic in UniVerse environments.
    • Develop and maintain custom applications and modules to meet specific business needs.
    • Perform code reviews and optimize existing code for better performance and maintainability.
  • Database Management:
    • Manage UniVerse databases, including schema design, indexing, and query optimization.
    • Develop and execute complex queries to support reporting and data analysis needs.
    • Ensure data integrity and security across all applications.
  • Collaboration & Communication:
    • Collaborate with business analysts, project managers, and end-users to gather and analyze requirements.
    • Conduct thorough testing of all applications, including unit testing, integration testing, and user acceptance testing.
    • Identify potential issues early in the development process and implement solutions to mitigate risks.
    • Ensure compliance with company standards and industry best practices.

Qualifications:
  • Education:
    • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience:
    • 10 years of experience in PICK programming within UniVerse and/or UniData environments.
    • 5 + years of development experience supporting Order Management, Manufacturing, and Finance applications
    • Strong experience with multi-value database management and development.
    • Experience in integrating UniVerse/UniData applications with other systems.
  • Skills:
    • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Project management. Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
    • Experience using JSON, REST APIs, and Asynchronous calls is a plus
    • Unix (AIX) shell scripting and universe system administration skills preferred
    • Knowledge of web technologies and integration with multi-value databases
