Job Title: Junior Estimator – Federal Construction Projects
Position Summary:
The Junior Estimator will assist in the preparation and management of cost estimates for federal construction projects. This role involves working closely with senior estimators, project managers, and other team members to ensure accurate and timely cost assessments. The ideal candidate will have a foundational understanding of construction practices and estimating techniques, along with a strong willingness to learn and grow in the field. Frequent travel is required to visit Potential projects for Prebid walkthroughs and/or to perform quantity takeoffs.

Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in preparing detailed cost estimates for federal construction projects, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
- Review project plans, specifications, and other documentation to understand project requirements and scope.
- Collaborate with senior estimators to analyze bid documents and identify potential risks and opportunities.
- Obtain and review quotes from subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring accuracy and compliance with project specifications.
- Support the preparation of bid proposals and presentations, including cost breakdowns and justifications.
- Participate in site visits and pre-bid meetings to gather information and clarify project details.
- Maintain and update cost databases, bid records, and estimating tools.
- Contribute to the development of estimating strategies and methodologies for various project types.
- Assist in tracking and documenting changes and variations to project scope and costs.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
- Basic understanding of construction practices, materials, and estimating processes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and familiarity with construction software (e.g., ProCore and BlueBeam) is a plus.
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and under tight deadlines.
- Eagerness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced industry.
- Previous internship or work experience in construction estimating or a related field.
- Knowledge of federal construction regulations and requirements.
- Certification or coursework in estimating or project management (e.g., AACE Certification, PMI).
