Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement comprehensive safety programs and procedures tailored to federal construction projects, ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations and federal safety standards.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and audits on construction sites to identify potential hazards and ensure adherence to safety protocols.
- Provide safety training and orientation to project personnel, including subcontractors and new hires, to ensure they are knowledgeable about safety practices and regulations.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses to determine root causes, develop corrective actions, and prevent recurrence.
- Collaborate with project managers, superintendents, and other stakeholders to address safety concerns, implement safety measures, and promote a culture of safety.
- Review and ensure that all safety documentation, including permits, hazard assessments, and safety plans, is complete and up-to-date.
- Monitor compliance with federal safety requirements and regulations, addressing any non- compliance issues promptly.
- Develop and maintain safety records and reports, including incident reports, safety performance metrics, and compliance documentation.
- Stay informed about industry trends, new safety regulations, and best practices to continually enhance safety programs and practices.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Safety Management, Occupational Health and Safety, Construction Management, or a related field; equivalent work experience will also be considered.
- Minimum of [5] years of experience in a safety role within federal construction projects.
- In-depth knowledge of federal safety regulations, including OSHA standards, and federal project- specific safety requirements.
- Strong understanding of construction processes, hazards, and risk management practices.
- Certification in safety management (e.g., OSHA 30-hour Construction Safety, Certified Safety
- Professional (CSP), Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST)) is preferred.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify hazards and implement effective safety measures.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to train and motivate employees and interact with regulatory agencies.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks while maintaining a focus on safety and compliance.
- Travel will be required to facilitate project demands.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with specialized safety protocols, such as those related to hazardous materials or specific federal project requirements.
- Familiarity with safety management software and tools (e.g., Safety Management System, Incident Reporting Software).
- Knowledge of sustainable construction practices and associated safety considerations.
