Our Austin based Client is seeking a Systems Administrator with a deep understand of Enterprise Applications in addition to at least general SQL Server experience. This is a long-term contract position with the potential to be converted to a Full Time Employee. This individual will work 3 days per week at the Client's Austin office and be eligible to work 2 days remotely.

This role's primary focus is on the Client's Enterprise Application Administration, ensuring the smooth operation and support of their enterprise software applications through all stages of their lifecycles. SQL database administration will make up about 25% of the total job requirements. This individual should have a strong understanding of application backends, enabling them to install, configure and support enterprise software applications in multiple environments.


In additional to the technical experience needed to be successful in this role, the ideal candidate is someone who is adaptable, has a willingness to learn, and who is able to work collaboratively in a close team environment.

Responsibilities:
  • The installation, configuration and support of enterprise software applications in multiple environments.
  • Full support of application backends and frontends.
  • Monitoring application performance.
  • Optimizing application performance.
  • Managing application security.
  • Planning and executing application patches, upgrades and migrations.
  • Incident management, triaging and root cause analysis.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to analyze system and application logs.
  • Implementation of application change requests.
  • Identify, design, and implement automation using PowerShell scripting.
  • Develop, maintain and test disaster recovery plans.
  • Creation and maintenance of technical documentation for the applications and processes.
  • Application vendor support and management.
  • Cross team collaboration to facilitate the implementation and support of applications.
  • Password management.

Required Experience:
  • Deep understanding of Microsoft Windows Server and SQL Server Administration.
    • 5+ years of Microsoft SQL Server 2012 up to at least SQL 2022, SSIS, SSRS, SSAS.
    • 5+ years of Microsoft Windows Operating Systems - Client and Server.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS). Experience with Apache Tomcat web servers would be nice to have.
  • 5+ years of Microsoft Office software.
  • Microsoft SQL Management Studio
  • 5+ Years of Microsoft T-SQL
  • Microsoft SQL Profiler, and Extended Events other monitoring/performance tools.
  • Microsoft PowerShell prefer at least 1-2+ years.
  • VMWare or virtual server infrastructure - 2+ years.
  • Ability to provide support for the backend of applications, including error handling and performance tuning required.
  • Server OS operations and patching.
  • Microsoft Active Directory.
  • Comfort with working in the MS Azure cloud would be a nice to have.
  • Azure DevOps.
  • Ability to work in a complex production environment with multiple integrated systems.
  • Cognizant of Security and Compliance in a SOX/SOCII Production environment.
  • Occasional after-hours deployments.
  • Ability to thrive in a heavily regulated environment with strong change management. (SOX, SOCII compliance, etc.)
  • Able to work solo and in a close team environment at the project and ad-hoc level.
  • Good documentation skills and the willingness to provide it.
  • Self-starter, well-disciplined is very important.
  • Good troubleshooting skills in a complex environment with 1000+ servers and 300+ SQL instances.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to handle multi-tasking workloads and sources of work.
  • Willingness to learn new systems and processes.

Preferred Skills:
  • Ticketing Systems Service Now, etc.
  • MS Visual Studio development/familiarity.
  • Systems monitoring software – Dynatrace, Prometheus/Grafana, Idera, Quest, etc.
  • Windows clustering/Always On configurations and maintenance – 2+ years preferred.
  • Familiarity with a financial environment, loan accounting, loan origination, etc.
  • Linux OS.
  • Docker/Kubernetes Swarms/Containers.
