SCOPE OF POSITION

The Manager of ERP is responsible for managing and integrating all ERP-related activities into business operations. This includes systems analysis, programming, configuration, troubleshooting, user training, upgrades, and patches. The role also involves managing both in-house resources and contractors who work on the ERP system.

FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Process Improvement & Automation : Work closely with the Head Office and various sites to analyze existing business processes and identify opportunities to implement technology solutions that improve efficiency, reduce costs, or automate manual processes.
  • Data Security & Risk Management : Ensure the security and integrity of business systems by proactively addressing potential risks such as data loss, security breaches, and system downtimes. Implement strategies to safeguard company data and maintain operational continuity.
  • Technology Evaluation : Investigate, evaluate, and recommend the adoption of new technologies, including hardware, software, and communication tools, to meet business needs and improve overall efficiency.
  • System Maintenance & Troubleshooting : Lead efforts to ensure business systems are continually operational, performing routine checks, troubleshooting issues, and resolving incidents promptly.
  • Collaboration & Communication : Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that IT systems align with business needs, providing technical guidance, support, and solutions to enhance overall productivity.
  • System Procurement & Installation : Oversee the procurement, installation, and configuration of software, applications, and services related to Hood business systems. Develop expertise in emerging technologies and ensure alignment with the company's strategic objectives.
  • System Upgrades & Enhancements : Oversee the planning and implementation of system upgrades and enhancements, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
  • Compliance & Governance : Ensure that the company's information systems comply with relevant legal, regulatory, and internal governance standards.
  • Performance Monitoring & Reporting : Implement systems for monitoring the performance of IT systems and services. Provide regular reports to senior management on system performance, security incidents, and key IT metrics.
MANAGERIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Team Management & Development : Manage and supervise the IS team, including Senior Business System Manager and Senior Programmer Analysts and contractors. Conduct annual performance reviews, provide coaching, and develop training and professional development plans. Play an active role in hiring, firing, and making decisions about compensation and promotions.
  • Cross-Department Coordination : Work closely with other departments to align business systems strategies with the company's overarching goals. Ensure effective communication between IT and other business units.
  • Budgeting & Resource Allocation : Develop and manage the budget for the IS department. Ensure effective allocation of resources and implement cost-saving measures where applicable.
  • Vendor Management : Oversee relationships with third-party vendors and service providers. Ensure that contracts, SLAs, and performance expectations are being met, and manage any issues that arise.
  • IT Audit: Collaborate with internal and external auditors to ensure systems and processes meet compliance requirements. Ensure that audit findings are addressed, and remediation plans are implemented.
  • Policy & Procedure Development : Lead the development and implementation of IT policies and procedures to ensure consistency, security, and efficiency in all business systems operations.
  • Coordinate all functions of business systems to ensure alignment with Company goals.

KEY WORKING RELATIONSHIPS
  • Director - IT : Regular contact to report on key initiatives, receive guidance on strategic direction, and coordinate resources.
  • Head Office Staff : Regular communication to ensure alignment between business systems and operational needs.
  • Employees at All Sites : Regular interaction to provide technical support, resolve system issues, and implement IT solutions across different locations.
  • Business Systems Contractors/Suppliers : Work with external vendors and contractors to procure services and ensure the smooth delivery of IT solutions.
  • Customers (Occasionally) : May engage with customers on technology-related matters, such as service delivery or system-related inquiries.

FUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Technical Proficiency : Regular use of computers, telephones, and various office equipment.
  • Complex Task Management : Ability to organize, prioritize, and execute complex tasks while meeting deadlines and maintaining attention to detail.

QUALIFICATIONS – EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • 4-year degree in Computer Science and 10+ years of experience in computer technology, including supervision/management, or a 2-year degree/diploma with 20+ years of related experience.
  • Manufacturing business processes and workflows is an asset.
  • Flexible packaging experience is an asset.

QUALIFICATIONS – SKILLS
  • In-depth knowledge of computer hardware, software and applications.
  • In-depth computer communications knowledge.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
