VP of Finance
Qualifications

A Master's degree is required in business administration or other appropriate related advanced degree.

A minimum of ten years of administrative leadership experience, preferably in higher education, with significant management and supervisory experience.

The successful candidate must have a thorough knowledge of business and finance principles and practices applicable to higher education as they apply at the local, state, and national levels.
Responsibilities
-
The Vice President for Finance, as chief fiscal officer of the University, is responsible for the executive management of the financial support and business-related service units of the University and Foundation.

Major functions include, but are not limited to:

Directing all fiscal matters

Establishing policies and procedures
-
Preparing reports, audits, and budgets
-
Increasing resources
-
Providing cost-effective services
-

Reports to the President of the University and is a member of the President's Cabinet.

Responsible for all fiscal units within the Division.

Leads and facilitates all of the financial accounting and finance functions, reporting principles, methods, techniques, and standards as applied within an academic environment.

Analyzes various business, financial, treasury, and budget matters and makes recommendations to leadership.

Provides strategic financial leadership, contributing to the University's overall strategy and operational goals.

Develops and presents accurate, transparent, and insightful financial reports and communications.

Models, evaluates, and advises on the financial impact and return of proposed decisions, policies, and strategies.

Provides recommendations to enhance financial performance and business opportunities.
-
Translates strategic and tactical business plans into financial plans.
-
Develops and continually evaluates short and long-term strategic financial objectives.

Implements and maintains efficient, transparent budgeting and forecasting processes.

Provides timely and accurate financial reporting, trend analysis, and forecasts.

Oversees investment management activities including endowments, cash management, debt financing, and lender relationships.

Ensures proper expenditure controls and budget management to maintain fiscal stability.

Oversees budget allocation across departments for staffing, operations, and equipment.

Responsible for maintaining the University's fiscal health score in compliance with board guidelines.

Oversees auxiliary units (e.g., food services, mailroom) to ensure effective operations and revenue growth.

Negotiates goods and services acquisitions at best value.

Provides leadership for external audits and ensures compliance with audit standards.

Oversees asset management, including inventory, disposal, and salvage operations.

Leads and evaluates all Finance direct reports.

Supports staff recruitment, development, and retention.

Builds high-performing, team-oriented environments.

Develops and enforces policies and procedures for the Finance Division.

Ensures compliance with all financial practices at state and federal levels.

Composes and interprets financial data and reports for internal and external stakeholders.

Ensures timely and accurate preparation of financial statements.

Serves as Foundation CFO for the Foundation at Confidential University.

Develops and sustains collaborative relationships across university divisions.
