Questions from Hiring Managers & HR Teams
For contract and contract-to-hire roles, we typically present qualified candidates within 2–5 business days. Permanent placements generally take 2–4 weeks, depending on the seniority of the role and the depth of the technical requirements. EDI roles could have same-day delivery.
What makes that possible: we've spent 30+ years building an active network of over 4 million vetted IT professionals — so when a need comes in, we're not starting from scratch. We're matching against relationships we already have.
Turnaround also depends on you. The clearer the job brief, the faster we move. Our recruiters will ask the right questions upfront so we're not wasting your time with candidates who don't fit.
Contract (temporary): You bring on a skilled IT professional for a defined period — a project, a backfill, a peak season. EDI Staffing handles payroll, benefits, and employer compliance. You get the talent without the overhead.
Contract-to-hire: The candidate works on a contract basis first, typically 3–6 months, with the option to convert them to a full-time employee if it's a mutual fit. It's a low-risk way to evaluate someone before making a permanent commitment.
Permanent placement (direct hire): We source, screen, and present candidates for a full-time role on your team. You hire them directly. Our job is to make sure they're the right fit technically, culturally, and professionally — before they step into your team.
Not sure which model makes sense for your situation? Our account managers will help you think it through — no pressure, no sales pitch.
Every candidate we present goes through a multi-step process before they reach your desk:
- Resume and experience review — We read between the lines. Years on paper don't always equal competence; we know what real depth looks like in a resume.
- Recruiter interview — A direct conversation with one of our specialized recruiters, many of whom have 20+ years in recruitment. They know niche positions well enough to have a real conversation with a candidate, not just check boxes.
- Reference checks — Upon request, we verify past performance, not just employment history.
- Skills and certification verification — Where relevant, we confirm claimed credentials and technical proficiencies.
- Cultural and communication fit — We consider how a candidate communicates, works under pressure, and integrates into a team — because a brilliant hire who can't collaborate is still a bad hire.
The result: you only see candidates we'd personally put in front of our own clients. Which, for 30 years, is exactly what we've been doing.
For employers, there is no upfront fee. EDI Staffing earns a fee only when we successfully place a candidate — and that fee is built into the billing rate for contract placements or a one-time placement fee for permanent hires.
For contract staffing, you pay an hourly bill rate that covers the candidate's pay, employer taxes, and our service fee. For permanent placement, fees are typically calculated as a percentage of the candidate's first-year salary, agreed upon in advance.
What you don't pay for: wasted interviews, unqualified resumes, or time spent sourcing.
Our model aligns our incentives with yours — we succeed when you make a great hire.
Want a straight answer on rates for your specific situation? Call or email us directly, and we'll give you a clear number, not a runaround.
Both — and we mean that. Our 200+ active clients range from Fortune 500 companies to small and mid-sized businesses that need one or two strong hires and don't have the recruiting infrastructure to find them.
Questions from Job Seekers & Active Candidates
When you work a contract assignment through EDI Staffing, you are either paid directly as our W-2 employee or through a corporate structure (such as an LLC). In both cases, your dedicated recruiter and account manager guide you through the setup to ensure you are paid accurately and on time.
No. Working with EDI Staffing as a job seeker is completely free. We are paid by the hiring company, not by you.
This is standard across the staffing industry, but worth saying plainly: we will never ask you for money, charge a placement fee, or take a cut of your wages.
Our incentive is simple — we find you a great role, you succeed in it, and the client wants to work with us again. Everyone wins.
It depends on the type of role and how ready you are to move.
Contract roles can move fast — sometimes within a week from first conversation to start date, especially if you have an up-to-date resume and are available for a quick call.
Permanent roles typically take 2–4 weeks, as they involve more interview rounds on the client side.
The biggest factors in your control: responsiveness and preparation.
Candidates who reply quickly, come to interviews prepared, and have a clear sense of what they're looking for get placed significantly faster than those who are vague or slow to engage. Your recruiter will keep you informed at every step — you won't be left wondering where things stand.
Absolutely — and honestly, that's one of the best times to connect with us.
We work with a large number of passive candidates: IT professionals who are employed, not urgently job hunting, but would make a move for the right role, rate, or company. Our recruiters are good at understanding what "the right opportunity" actually means for you — and reaching out only when something genuinely fits.
To get on our radar: submit your resume or contact a recruiter directly. We'll have a no-pressure conversation, understand what you're looking for, and keep you in mind as relevant roles come through. You won't be bombarded with irrelevant postings.
Your next opportunity might not exist yet. But when it does, you'll want us to already know you.
General Questions
Yes. EDI Staffing is a proud member of the American Staffing Association (ASA) — the national trade association representing the U.S. staffing industry. ASA membership reflects our commitment to ethical practices, legal compliance, and professional standards.
We are also a Forbes-recognized firm, named to Forbes' America's Best Temporary Staffing Firms list — an independently researched ranking based on employer and employee satisfaction. That recognition isn't purchased or self-reported; it's earned.
EDI Staffing has been placing EDI and technical professionals for over 30 years. We were founded in the early 1990s and have grown steadily ever since — without losing the personal, relationship-first approach that defined us from day one.
What does 30 years actually mean in practice? Our senior recruiters have placed candidates who are now CIOs. We've worked with clients through multiple economic cycles, technology shifts, and hiring booms. We know this industry at a depth that newer firms simply haven't had time to develop.
Longevity in staffing is rare. We're proud of it — and we think you'll feel the difference.
We’re originally based our of Raynham, Massachusetts, but we place talent nationwide across all 50 states.
We work with companies and candidates in all major metro markets, including but not limited to Boston, New York, Chicago, Dallas, Atlanta, Los Angeles, and beyond — as well as mid-size cities and remote-first organizations that need talent regardless of location.
For candidates: remote and hybrid roles are increasingly common in our placements.
For employers: if you need talent anywhere in the U.S., we can help. Contact us and we'll confirm coverage for your specific market.
EDI Staffing is a one-stop shop; we place professionals across a range of disciplines:
- Electronic Data Interchange (EDI)
- Information Technology (IT)
- Artificial Intelligence (AI)
- Engineering
- Accounting & Finance
- Human Resources & Administrative
- Sales & Marketing
- Fractional Leadership
- Light Industrial Roles
- Legal & Event Staffing
In every discipline, we bring the same approach: experienced recruiters, a large professional network, and a genuine investment in finding the right fit — not just filling a seat.
EDI stands for Electronic Data Interchange — the standardized electronic communication of business documents between organizations. Think purchase orders, invoices, shipping notices, and inventory updates, exchanged automatically between companies' systems without human intervention.
EDI has been around for decades, and it remains the backbone of supply chain and logistics operations for thousands of companies worldwide. Retailers, manufacturers, healthcare systems, and logistics providers all depend on it. When EDI breaks or is implemented poorly, entire supply chains can grind to a halt.
Despite predictions that APIs would replace it, EDI is not going away — it's evolving. The companies that manage EDI best are the ones with experienced EDI professionals who understand both legacy standards (X12, EDIFACT) and modern integration approaches.
Finding qualified EDI professionals is genuinely difficult. It's been our specialty since we were founded — which is why EDI is literally in our name.
Yes — and this is now a significant part of what we do. The shift to remote and hybrid work has fundamentally changed where companies can source talent, and we've adapted accordingly.
For employers, this means access to a wider candidate pool. You're no longer limited to candidates within commuting distance.
For candidates, it means more opportunities regardless of where you live. When you work with us, just let your recruiter know your remote/hybrid preferences upfront.
We'll filter accordingly and won't waste your time presenting roles that don't match your situation.
The big agencies have scale. We have depth.
At a firm like Robert Half or TEKsystems, your role is one of thousands being worked on simultaneously. Your recruiter may be junior, managing a high-volume desk, and moving quickly to hit metrics. You may hear from a different person every time you call.
At EDI Staffing:
Our recruiters average 20+ years of tenure — with us, not just in the industry. You'll speak to the same person throughout your engagement.
We specialize.
IT, EDI, and AI aren't departments inside a generalist firm — they're what we know deeply.
We move with the urgency of a smaller firm that has to earn every client relationship, backed by a network of 4M+ professionals that rivals any national player.
We've been Forbes-recognized for the quality of our placements — not just our size.
The question isn't which firm is bigger. It's which firm is going to be more invested in getting this specific hire right. For 30 years, our answer has been us.
