Are You Ready For Wal-Mart’s New Supplier Initiative?
|
READY FOR SOME PAIN? HOW ABOUT FINES?
According to a recent, trending article published in Bloomberg, – suppliers to Wal-Mart could be facing some major hurt. The large retail chain is cracking down on delivery scheduling with a new program “On-Time, In-Full”. Veterans of EDI remember when Wal-Mart was known as the 800 pound gorilla, because of their heavy-handedness when it came to EDI compliance. Now it seems they have taken compliance to a new level when it comes to the delivery of goods.
I can understand why Wal-Mart is going in this direction. They are facing increased competition from Amazon and other retailers, and need to find efficiencies wherever they can. I can attest to not finding a product on a Wal-Mart shelf and never going back. They can’t afford to be out of stock, and cannot afford to be carrying excess inventory either.
If you need assistance in meeting Wal-Mart’s demands around delivery scheduling, we may be able to help, especially with the EDI transactions that will be involved. I understand how this will affect your entire supply chain process and not just EDI – EDI is just one piece of it.
I’m sure you’ll be hearing more about OTIF as described in the article.
